About the Position
As a Professional System Engineer at AT&T, you'll play a critical role in supporting systems that are vital to our customer interactions. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the health and stability of our multiple internet-facing eCommerce applications, databases, and technology stacks. You'll be responsible for analyzing production alerts and dashboards to identify outages that impact our customers, and for implementing measures to prevent potential issues that could lead to service disruptions.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver innovative solutions that provide intuitive and integrated experiences for customers across online, retail, and care channels.
- Support critical systems that deliver AT&T's customer experience across multiple eCommerce applications, databases, platforms, and technology stacks.
- Analyze production alerts and dashboards to identify customer-impacting outages and examine system health status to prevent potential issues.
- Evaluate upcoming projects and existing production monitoring systems to ensure applications are equipped with the necessary monitoring tools.
- Quantify the effects of production outages on customers to ensure appropriate support is provided for critical issues.
- Provide 24x7 production support, troubleshoot incidents, and respond to outages effectively.
- Implement application performance monitoring, dashboard creation, and corrective actions to optimize existing alerts.
- Support incident management and problem management processes, and engage with various stakeholders during high-severity production outages.
- Work on incident management and response as part of a Tier 1 production operations team, deploying cloud and other networks that deliver digital products.
- Develop and implement customer journey dashboards to proactively monitor customer experience availability.
- Apply knowledge of operational practices to enhance the organization's capability maturity.
- Utilize technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Microsoft Azure Cloud, and Unix for networking and troubleshooting.
- Create dashboards using tools like Dynatrace, ELK, and Grafana, and utilize customer experience analytics tools.
- Debug logs from Java and microservices, and utilize the EFK stack, Dynatrace, Catchpoint, and Nagios.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
- At least three years of experience in a related occupation, building cross-organizational consensus across operations, product delivery, infrastructure, and business stakeholders.
- Experience working on incident management and incident response on a Tier 1 production operations team.
- Experience deploying cloud and other networks that deliver digital products to employees and customers.
- Knowledge of operations practices and experience developing and implementing customer journey dashboards.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Microsoft Azure Cloud, Unix, and various analytics and monitoring tools.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, having experience in the following areas can be beneficial:
- Additional experience in cloud computing, eCommerce applications, and customer experience analytics.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.
- Certifications in relevant technologies, such as Azure, AWS, or Kubernetes.
