Location: The position is remote and part-time (up to 30 hours), with the possibility of going full-time, depending on client work load. Preference may be given to candidates who reside in states in which Casentric currently operates, however, candidates may be hired from other states within the domestic U.S., depending on experience, qualifications and applicable state requirements.
About Casentric: Casentric is a Cleveland, Ohio-based company that helps property and casualty insurance companies more accurately evaluate bodily injury claims that are brought against their policyholders and negotiate better financial settlements on their behalf with injured claimants and their representatives. Position Summary: The Medical Records Specialist is responsible for supporting work performed by Casentric on behalf of its clients. The Medical Records Specialist will be responsible for reviewing, annotating and analyzing medical records and related documentation that we receive from our clients. The Medical Records Specialist will:
• Monitor designated channels for incoming medical records and case-related documentation.
• Upload and accurately associate all received records with the appropriate case files.
• Combine multiple record submissions into a single, organized electronic file for analyst review.
• Verify that the claimant's name and identifying information on received records match the assigned case.
• Confirm that the requested report type matches the report template assigned within the case management system.
• Identify and report discrepancies in claimant information, report types, or received documentation.
• Compare the cost of services rendered to amounts typically paid for these services
• Communicate professionally with insurance adjusters regarding missing, incomplete, duplicate, or incorrect medical records to obtain the documentation required to complete the review.
• Follow up with insurance adjusters as needed to ensure outstanding record requests are received in a timely manner.
• Work with other Casentric team members to ensure proper documentation and transfer of information to Casentric analysts
Essential Job Functions
• 80%—Review, identify, organize, index, and mark documents related to injury claims. Reprice submitted medical services to reasonable, supported compensation levels. Set up cases in Casentric’s proprietary software. Apply procedures to ensure consistency, completeness and quality of work.
• 10%—Collaborate with Casentric staff to ensure that work product is complete and correct and meets Casentric’s standards. Respond to follow up questions or requests.
• 10%—Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions/Other Requirements
• This is a remote work position
• Applicants must have a quiet office/workspace that is physically separate and can be physically secured (e.g., locked) to protect and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information (all documentation is accessed and viewed on-screen only)
• Training is provided remotely, with heavy concentration during the first 30 days and on-going thereafter
• No travel is required
• Computer equipment necessary to perform the position is provided by Casentric
Required Qualifications
• Medical records or health information management, medical billing, coding, or medical bill auditing
• Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of medical documentation
• Ability to read and understand injury diagnoses, treatment types (medical, chiropractor, physical therapy, etc.), SOAP notes, and treatment assessments.
• Strong reading and written and oral communication skills
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel.
• Proficiency, facility and comfort with using computers, software applications, including Microsoft Excel and Word, and problem-solving minor technical issues
• Ability to work remotely and independently

Pay rate may vary depending on experience. Increases in compensation are based on demonstrated attainment of proficiency levels.
