Beni Health is building an operating system for continuous care, and they are seeking an AI Engineering Lead to architect and build systems for multi-modal patient communication and intelligent care coordination. The role involves working with a founding team of medical experts and requires deep hands-on experience in building AI systems in production.
Responsibilities
- Architecture and implementation of Beni's agentic AI systems: orchestration, memory, tool use, multi-step reasoning
- The multi-modal communication layer, including our voice AI pipeline and asynchronous outreach channels
- EMR integration work, connecting Beni's intelligence to the clinical data that lives in practice systems (FHIR, HL7 and other applicable frameworks)
- Production reliability for AI outputs in a clinical context: evaluation frameworks, monitoring, and graceful failure handling
- Backend infrastructure that is scalable and provides the highest level of privacy and security
- Close AI native collaboration with the product team leveraging emerging technologies and workflows to accelerate shipping and deployment
Skills
- Deep hands-on experience building AI systems in production: LLMs, RAG, agentic orchestration, voice AI, or some combination
- Strong backend fundamentals: APIs, async systems, data pipelines, compliant infrastructure
- Real experience with or genuine interest in working with healthcare data and EMR integrations
- Working in the cutting edge of AI using emerging tools and frameworks to improve and accelerate your daily work and collaboration with the team
- Exceptional verbal and written communication
- Proactive attitude and strong self-direction focusing on progress over process
