Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Yearnings Inc is looking for a Senior QA Automation Engineer to own quality across their web platform. The role involves designing and maintaining an automation framework, testing complex authentication and security flows, and managing QA work in Jira while writing code daily.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain end-to-end UI automation using Playwright (Python and JavaScript/TypeScript), following Page Object Model with stable, test-id-based selectors
- Automate and test authentication flows end to end: Google SSO/OAuth, MFA, OTP (SMS via Twilio), session/cookie management, and token expiry
- Build and run API test suites against GraphQL endpoints, including schema exploration, rate-limit validation, and negative/security testing
- Validate data directly in PostgreSQL, working safely against cloud databases (AWS RDS) through SSH bastion access
- Reproduce, isolate, and document defects with clear evidence (logs, structured results, repro scripts), and verify fixes across environments (dev/test)
- Integrate and maintain test suites in CI (GitHub Actions), triage pipeline failures, and keep test runs reliable and fast
- Produce clear test reporting (Allure) and maintain QA documentation and knowledge bases (Notion/Markdown)
- Manage QA work in Jira: write clear, testable tickets, plan and prioritize your own testing scope, and report status to stakeholders
Skills
- 5+ years in QA, with 3+ years building UI/API automation frameworks from scratch
- Strong Playwright experience in Python and/or TypeScript, plus solid pytest fundamentals
- Proven experience testing authentication: OAuth/SSO, MFA/OTP, session handling, and rate limiting
- Comfortable with SQL and validating application state directly in PostgreSQL
- Comfortable in Linux/terminal environments: SSH, tunnels, environment configuration, secrets hygiene
- Experience running tests in CI (GitHub Actions or similar) and debugging flaky pipelines
- Excellent written communication: precise bug reports, clean documentation, well-structured Jira tickets
- Self-directed: able to own the QA function independently without supervision or a supporting team
- Security testing exposure (abuse cases, rate-limit bypass attempts, token TTL validation)
- Experience with AWS (RDS, ElastiCache, IAM) beyond basic usage
- Experience with AI-assisted testing workflows and tooling
