Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Galactic Advisors is building AI-backed penetration testing from the ground up, and they are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own the core of this initiative. The role involves designing and building penetration test tooling, managing real-time services, and making architectural decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and own the AI-backed penetration test tooling and MCP server in Go and Rust
- Build the gRPC services that carry real-time communication between tooling, agents, and our portal application
- Design and operate streaming data pipelines on Kafka with protobuf schemas
- Model and query large-scale scan data in ClickHouse for fast analysis and real-time reporting
- Build the services and APIs that connect our tooling into the web portal, end to end
- Take complex, ambiguous problems from concept through production with minimal oversight
- Make architectural and design decisions that hold up under security, performance, and reliability pressure
- Raise the technical bar through code review and strong engineering practice
- Run bleeding-edge experiments and prototype new approaches, then bring that work into production
Skills
- 5+ years of hands-on production experience in Go and/or Rust, including language internals and idioms, built through real production work rather than recent or tool-assisted exposure
- Strong grasp of core software design and structure, someone who reasons from the first principles about how a system should be built, not just how to make it compile
- 3+ years building services with gRPC for low-latency, real-time communication
- 3+ years working with Kafka and protobuf for streaming and schema-driven serialization
- 2+ years of working proficiency with ClickHouse for large-scale storage, processing, and querying
- Proven track record owning complex features or services end to end as a senior IC
- Solid grasp of backend architecture, APIs, concurrency, and systems-level thinking
- Ability to operate independently on ambiguous problems and drive them to completion
- A self-starter who works at the edge of current technology and advances past what AI tooling can do on its own
- Clear technical communication and a collaborative approach to design
- Prior experience in cybersecurity or a security-sensitive product domain
- Familiarity with scanning, agent, and/or endpoint technology internals
- Experience designing and operating backend services and APIs at scale
- Hands-on work with cloud infrastructure (AWS), container orchestration (Kubernetes), and large-scale data stores
- Working knowledge of C#, which run our legacy platforms and appear occasionally across our stack
- Familiarity with PHP and Laravel, which appears in parts of our stack
- Exposure to B2B or channel/partner-driven products
- Familiarity with security tooling and concepts (AD auditing, M365/Entra, network exposure)
- Experience with code signing, secure build pipelines, or supply-chain security
