Position Overview </div><div>We are seeking a Senior GIS Analyst with strong hands-on technical expertise and a proven track record of consulting with local government clients. This role blends advanced GIS development, client engagement, and solution delivery, with a particular emphasis on ArcGIS Experience Builder, StoryMaps, and custom widget/application development. </div><div>The ideal candidate is both a builder and a consultant—someone who can translate client needs into scalable, user-friendly GIS solutions while actively developing and configuring applications. </div><div> Key Responsibilities </div><div> Client Consulting & Solution Delivery </div><ul> <li>Serve as a trusted advisor to local government clients (city, county, regional agencies) </li> <li>Lead requirements gathering sessions, workshops, and stakeholder interviews </li> <li>Translate business needs into GIS workflows, applications, and dashboards </li> <li>Provide strategic guidance on GIS modernization, web applications, and user engagement </li> <li>Support project scoping, estimates, and technical approach development for proposals </li> </ul><div> Application Development (Hands-On) </div><ul> <li>Design, configure, and deploy ArcGIS Experience Builder applications </li> <li>Develop custom widgets using JavaScript/React within Experience Builder </li> <li>Build and publish ArcGIS StoryMaps to communicate data-driven narratives </li> <li>Configure and enhance ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise environments </li> <li>Develop web maps, dashboards, and data-driven applications for operational use </li> </ul><div> Customization & Integration </div><ul> <li>Create custom GIS solutions integrating Esri tools with client systems </li> <li>Develop and maintain custom scripts, widgets, and extensions </li> <li>Leverage APIs (ArcGIS API for JavaScript, REST services) to extend platform capabilities </li> <li>Ensure solutions are scalable, performant, and user-centric </li> </ul><div> Data Management & Analysis </div><ul> <li>Perform advanced spatial analysis and data modeling </li> <li>Design and manage geodatabases and data schemas </li> <li>Ensure data quality, governance, and best practices </li> <li>Support data visualization and decision-support tools </li> </ul><div> Collaboration & Leadership </div><ul> <li>Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance </li> <li>Collaborate with project managers, developers, and client stakeholders </li> <li>Contribute to internal best practices, reusable components, and templates </li> <li>Participate in knowledge sharing and training initiatives </li> </ul><div> Required Qualifications </div><ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or related field </li> <li> 5+ years of professional GIS experience, preferably in a consulting environment </li> <li>Demonstrated experience working with local government clients </li> <li>Hands-on experience with: <ul> <li> ArcGIS Experience Builder (required) </li> <li> ArcGIS StoryMaps (required) </li> <li> ArcGIS Online and/or ArcGIS Enterprise </li> </ul> </li> <li>Strong experience developing custom widgets (JavaScript, React) </li> <li>Proficiency with ArcGIS API for JavaScript </li> <li>Experience translating business needs into technical GIS solutions </li> <li>Strong communication and client-facing skills </li> </ul><div> Preferred Qualifications </div><ul> <li>Experience with Esri Utility Network, Parcel Fabric, or municipal workflows </li> <li>Familiarity with Python (ArcPy), automation, or scripting </li> <li>Experience supporting RFP responses or technical proposals </li> <li>Understanding of cloud environments (Azure, AWS) in GIS deployments </li> <li>Esri Technical Certification(s) </li> </ul><div> Key Competencies </div><ul> <li> Consultative Mindset – Able to guide clients, not just execute tasks </li> <li> Hands-On Builder – Strong technical depth with modern Esri tools </li> <li> Problem Solver – Translates complex needs into practical solutions </li> <li> Communicator – Clearly explains technical concepts to non-technical users </li> <li> Collaborator – Works effectively across teams and disciplines </li> </ul><div> </div><div> </div><div></div> </div> This is a remote position.
