Wood is recruiting for a Site Engineer to join its Power & Industrial (OA) Steam Generation Solutions Operations business, global leader in the delivery of project, engineering, equipment and technical services to the energy and industrial markets. With more than a century of designing, fabricating, erecting and starting our own equipment, we have the experience and capability to assess boilers and furnaces, recommend improvements, and predict the impact on performance, reliability and operation. 

The Role

We are looking for an accountable Site Engineer to be part of the execution team for Steam Generation Solution Operations. You will oversees all aspects of the assigned work packages within a project in close coordination with discipline specialists. The work will be done fully time at site.

The main Site Engineer tasks are:

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for delivery of construction work packs which give clear activity breakdown and detailed narratives for all construction activities. 
  • Contribute advanced discipline experience to the ongoing development of project work methods, processes and team development. 
  • Oversees constructability review of all work packs, resolving more complex issues. Feedback any major issues to construction lead or relevant engineering discipline. This will include input at scope survey and engineering stage. 
  • Deliver against agreed planned work scopes ensuring obligations are met by way of timely completion of work packs. 
  • Provide advanced technical discipline input to scope definition and execution. 
  • Ensure that all plant and equipment is fully certificated and controlled cost effectively.
  • Ensure effective control of all material movements. 
  • If identified, react to change in scope, inform necessary parties and complete the necessary change management documentation. 
  • Check installation quality and subsequent verification are completed in accordance with requirements. 
  • Participate in audits and incident investigations as required. 
  • Responsible for assessing effectiveness of working practices and systems with a view to continuously improving systems, personal and team performance. 
  • Provides significant coaching, mentoring and guidance to less experienced personnel 
  • Assisting with the delivery and timely execution of the project/contract/service and ensure the contract requirements are satisfied. 
  • Ensure quality requirements are understood and complied with and prepare quality plans and documents in accordance with the relevant project, statutory and legislative requirements

Expected: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, preferable Mechanical, Energy, or similar
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar position
  • Fluent level of written and oral English (C certification preferable)
  • Spanish at native level
  • Microsoft office
  • Understands Technical work scopes, key dates and milestones
  • Understands and knows how to apply the procedures and work practices which define and govern Engineering Management and Project Engineering deliverables
  • Understands the importance of Project Engineering deliverables and the need for accuracy and timely issue
  • Understands the concept of customer satisfaction and is able to deliver to internal customers, including other Engineering disciplines.
  • Commercially astute and aware of the importance of Change control.
  • Has a good knowledge of standards, procedures and work practices; follows project execution flow chart; developing skills in project and technical execution.
  • Communicates with line managers highlighting issues and deficiencies
  • Holding a valid permit to live and work in Spain is required

 

Desirable:

  • Experience in steam generator equipment, power plants and clean air technologies.
  • Proficient in managing client interactions and achieving departmental objectives.
  • Quality control and NDTs solid knowledge. Applicable Standards:
    • ASME I and B31.1
    • ASTM & AWS
    • EN1090
