[Remote] Mechanical Engineer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Sphinx Staffing is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer for a fully remote role with occasional travel. The position involves designing mechanical systems for complex facilities and requires strong technical skills and collaboration with various engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical systems for complex, regulated, and technically demanding facility types
• Independently develop P&IDs with minimal oversight
• Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, and system modeling
• Prepare project specifications using SpecLink
• Produce drawings and documentation in Revit and AutoCAD
• Coordinate across disciplines including architecture, structural, electrical, plumbing, and process engineering
• Conduct remote design reviews and site visits as needed for surveys, field verification, or project meetings
• Apply applicable codes and standards including ASHRAE, NFPA, and IBC throughout the design process
• Support projects from concept through construction administration

Skills

• 5–10 years of mechanical engineering experience in life sciences, healthcare, institutional, or mission-critical facility design
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SpecLink, and mechanical modeling tools
• Demonstrated ability to independently produce P&IDs, specifications, and detailed engineering deliverables
• Strong working knowledge of HVAC, hydronic systems, process piping, and clean utilities
• Strong communication and remote collaboration skills
• Experience with cGMP facilities, cleanroom/HVAC design, research labs, hospitals, data centers, or high-containment systems
• Commissioning and QA/QC background
• Client-facing experience and comfort leading coordination meetings
