Berry Metal Company is recognized as the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of steelmaking furnace technologies for the iron and steel industry. They are seeking a Technical Sales Manager – Electrical Arc Furnace (EAF) Systems to drive growth across the Southern United States through EAF equipment sales, aftermarket services, and steelmaking process solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans for EAF systems, upgrades, and aftermarket services
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within steel mills, foundries, and heavy industrial markets
- Manage the full sales cycle including prospecting, technical evaluation, proposals, negotiations, and contract close
- Grow and maintain long-term customer relationships throughout assigned territory
- Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and customer events
- Provide technical expertise related to: Electrical Arc Furnaces (EAF), Water-cooled panels, Furnace automation and controls, Power systems and harmonics, Charging systems and auxiliary equipment, Alloy Delivery Systems
- Serve as the primary commercial and technical contact for assigned accounts
- Coordinate with engineering, project management, and service teams to ensure successful project execution
- Proactively address customer concerns and maintain high customer satisfaction levels
- Track steel industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies
- Support strategic growth initiatives and product development discussions
- Prepare sales forecasts, market analyses, and account development plans
- Conduct technical presentations and process evaluations
- Assist customers with operational improvements related to productivity, energy consumption, refractory life, and furnace performance
- Collaborate closely with engineering and operations teams to deliver customized customer solutions
Skills
- Bachelor's degree Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related technical field
- 5+ years of experience in one or more of the following: EAF operations, melt shop engineering, steel mill equipment sales, and/or industrial technical sales
- Solid understanding of EAF steelmaking processes, and/or steel mill operations and maintenance
- Ability to understand technical drawings, data processing, engineering specifications, and to translate complex technical concepts into customer focused solutions
- Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills
- Self-motivated and comfortable managing customer priorities independently
- Ability to travel approximately 50–70% domestically and internationally
- Bachelor's (Preferred)
- Steel industry: 1 year (Preferred)
- Capital equipment sales: 1 year (Preferred)
- Willingness to travel: 50% (Preferred)
